Obama and His Answer on Abortion

Greg Koukl from Stand to Reason has done a great job of breaking down the answer Barack Obama gave during the presidential forum on the issue of Abortion. I understand that Obama is a candidate for "change" (aren't they all?) and his run for the White House is historic, I get that, but this is a fundamental issue, one where millions of lives are at stake, and so it may be one of the most important answers a President has to deal with.
If you are a Obama supporter please tell me how his answer makes any sense, this is not about being a "right wing religous fundamentalist" I am not, I actually really like to listen to Obama on most things, and I totally agreed with Koukl on the issue of orphans of the world and how it is not the govt. job to help orphans, it is the Church's! But this is dealing with defenseless lives, and the legal execution of these babies, 45 million babies have been lost to this since Roe v Wade.
Want more proof go here to Abort73 and watch and learn the reality of abortion.
Obama supporters tell me, how does this answer make any sense after watching these videos...

Putin to Speak at The DNC??

Anthony Bradley chimes in on who the DNC should have speak this week:
After listening to Hilary Clinton preach about how government will solve all of America's social and moral problems, I thought to myself, "Where is Vladamir Putin, prime minister of Russia, because it sounds exactly like something he would say?" Seriously, if Putin spoke about government's role to solve everything, none of the democrats would really object I'd imagine.

The former Soviet Union was officially a federal socialist republic and that's exactly what you heard last night. And sadly, much of the Republican party is a softer version of the same. Both parties need help.

And by the way, "shipping jobs oversees" is a misnomer. We loose more jobs to technology than we do international outsourcing. It's propaganda. Oh yeah, and the government guaranteeing that women get "equal pay for equal work." Ok, Hilary that will happen on two conditions: (1) if when stopped getting married and (2) if women stop getting pregnant. On average never-married women earn more than their male peers. Come on people, think!!

Dr. Bradley is a professor at Covenant Theological Seminary where I currently reside, the man is bold and wise and willing to say the things no one else is...

Evil: Defeat It, But What is It?

On Saturday I watched the presidential forum with Obama, McCain and Rick Warren on CNN. Let me start of by saying I am not super political and while I am registered I am not sure what party I belong to. With that said I realized that in Christian blog circles the topic that was most discussed was the candidates response to the "abortion question". I have found it funny though that we here in America have very easily passed over the "evil question".

Basically Warren asked each candidate, do you believe in evil, and how do you respond to it. McCain and Obama both were on the side to defeat it, although McCain was more right to the point.

The funny thing is, is that they both defined evil as either, the opression going on in 3rd world countries or terrorism (bin laden), while I would not disagree, I would say that is not the biggest "evil" we here in America face daily. Here is what I would have loved to see Warren, a servant of God say after both said to defeat evil. This is my mock manuscript I would have loved to hear:

Warren: "How do you handle evil?"

Obama/McCain: "Defeat it"

Warren: "Amen, so how do we stop the American Dream of consumerism, and materiel wealth?"

That's it. The biggest evil in America is the evil of self, of wanting to be famous, rich and do it at any price. This evil claims hundreds of million lives a year, as we give into the idea that we are defined by what we wear, drive, live in, look like. I realize that the only hope is for the church to be a light in the darkness, to be a light and stand out as a city on a hill that is not fascinated by the trinkets of this world. And the only hope for that is the Cross of Jesus Christ, where the sins of greed and lust of self are killed, and we are freed to live for God and love our neighbor with a risky, sacrificial type love that is willing to die so others will taste and see the beauty and joy found in the Lord.

So I guess when it all comes down to it, our next president will not defeat evil, only our reigning King Jesus will come and slay evil once and for all as He has already claimed victory, but not yet do we see it all, hmmm already and not yet....

What The Hell????

So I posted a couple of videos a few days ago about a Hillsong singer who had said that he wrote a song called "Healer" after news that he had terminal cancer. The song was good, but the story and reasoning he gave for the song was amazing, well it seemed amazing. Come to find out, it was a freaking fraud, this dude made his sickness all up!!!

First let me say this dude needs some help, and appears to be getting it, and let me also say that while this at first really pissed me off, the words to the song still ring true and are biblical that God is our healer and we are trust in Him at all times...

Thanks B-Lo for the Heads Up

Read some of this story here:
Michael Guglielmucci, whose parents established Edge Church International, an Assemblies of God church at O'Halloran Hill, is now seeking professional help.

Earlier this year, Mr Guglielmucci released a hit song The Healer which was featured on Sydney church Hillsong's latest album. It debuted at No. 2 on the ARIA charts.

The song has become an anthem of faith for believers, many of whom are suffering their own illness and were praying for a miracle for Mr Guglielmucci, who has claimed for two years to be terminally ill.

In one church performance that has attracted 300,000 hits on YouTube, he performs his hit song with an oxygen tube in his nose. The clip was pulled late last night by YouTube with the advice "video no longer available."

It appears that Mr Guglielmucci, who was a pastor with one of Australia's biggest youth churches, Planetshakers, may have even deceived his own family.

"This news has come as a great shock to everyone including, it seems, his own wife and family," Hillsong general manager George Aghajanian said in an email to his congregation yesterday.

"Michael has confirmed that he is not suffering with a terminal illness and is seeking professional help in Adelaide with the support of his family.

"We are asking our church to pray for the Guglielmucci family during this difficult time."

Bigfoot Found!?!

Ever since I was little I have always liked watching those "In Search of Bigfoot" TV shows, usually it gave me nightmares, but still watched (this is as close to Nascar I get). Today there is supposed to be a press conference with 2 hunters that claim to have a dead Bigfoot body they found and froze a few weeks ago. I obviously doubt the truth to this, but if it is true, I am kinda stoked!!

Here is a quote from CNN:

Matthew Whitton and Rick Dyer, a pair of Bigfoot-hunting hobbyists from north Georgia, say they found the creature's body in a wooded area and spotted several similar creatures that were still alive.

The carcass of the furry half-man, half-ape is 7 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs more than 500 pounds, they say. However, the two are not disclosing the exact location of their discovery to protect the remaining creatures.

Louie Giglio and Passion Church

From Josh Harris:
Today I got a letter in the mail that Louie and Shelley Giglio sent out to friends of Passion. It was a report of all that God has been doing through the Passion World Tour. It sounds like it's been incredible. But then the letter ended with an announcement that completely shocked me: Louie is planting a church in Atlanta. Here's what he wrote:
If you haven't heard by now, Passion is taking a massive turn as we head into the future. At the heart of the shift is a sense of fresh calling that God has made unmistakably clear to Shelley and me over the past eighteen months or so. Though for many reasons it looked like we might never lead a local church, all that has changed as God has placed in our hearts a huge passion to do just that. So in the coming months, by the grace of God, we will be planting a Passion Church in Atlanta as a local expression of the Kingdom of God for our rapidly growing and diverse city as well as a base for our influence throughout the nation and world.
I went online and found a video interview with Louie about his plans. One of the things I've always appreciated about Louie is his readiness to listen to the Lord's leading and do something totally different. Most of the times "totally different" for Louie seems to require bigger faith and bigger risks for God's glory. But Louie always takes them and never looks back. I pray this new venture will be more God-exalting than anything that has come before. There's something very cool about the ultimate "conference guy" becoming the pastor of a local church. I'll be praying for you, Louie.
This is going to be interesting, Louie is one of the big shapers in my life, and the Passion Conference was such a huge shaping influence in my spiritual formation. I am stoked for Louie Giglio, Chris Tomlin and Matt Redman, but even more stoked for what God will do in the ATL area through this church!!

Abraham the Poor is Here!!!

One of our worship leaders for The Well, Josh Gaines has come out with his first album under the artist name "Abraham the Poor", it is a 6 song EP titled "The Pumpkin Patch Cabin" and it is really good. It is self produced and from my point of view it is very well done. It is only $6 on Amazon.com so go buy it, write a review (if you like it, if not then keep that to yourself :) ).
