John Piper on Doubting His Devotion to Christ

John Piper is one of the most respected leaders in the church today. He is loved by many young adults, and I believe this video is one of the big reasons, he is authentic about doubts and pains.

  1. These are golden words from Piper-- very helpful. This statement would probably seem like insanity (or at least spiritual masochism) to many Christians, but I think it is healthy, *at times,* to question our (my) devotion to Christ.

It actually concerns me that so many professing Christians *don't* seem to ever question their devotion to Christ, in light of a long-standing absence of perceivable fruit.

I see this dynamic with parents, not wanting to question their son's or daughter's salvation, because he/she happened to pray a prayer of salvation fifteen years ago (even though he/she has now been living a life of blatant unconcern for the things of God for quite a few of those years).
